What You Will Learn

The Mid-Range Rifle course at Thunder Ranch is designed to extend your shooting proficiency from 100 to 700 yards, with a focus on achieving first-round hits, particularly within Danger Close distances of 0-300 yards. This comprehensive training will push the limits of your rifle and scope combination, ensuring you maximize their potential.

You’ll learn the fundamentals of spotting, providing accurate corrections and calls for your shooting partner. Additionally, the course covers shooting in wind, dialing in scope corrections/DOPE, as well as holdovers using the reticle.

Anticipate shots from the prone position, where most of the data is gathered, then you’ll primarily engage in drills that simulate field conditions, requiring modified shooting positions. This course is highly beneficial for both new and experienced shooters, offering the opportunity to collect valuable data on your rifle’s performance at extended distances.

The Mid-Range Rifle course emphasizes practical, real-world shooting applications. You’ll face various scenarios that test your skills and equipment under challenging conditions. Good scopes mounted to reliable actions are recommended. This course is designed to refine your marksmanship and overall capability with your chosen rifle.

NO MUZZLE BRAKES. Suppressors are welcomed and encouraged.

IMPORTANT - We cannot overstate the importance of medical training. Every class at Thunder Ranch includes a med block.

• Every participant must have a genuine (no generic brands) North American Rescue CAT, RMT ratcheting, or SOF®T tourniquet on their person during class.

• If you do not own one of the approved TQ’s you may purchase a CAT7 or RMT during checkout or upon arrival at Thunder Ranch.

Ammo can be sent up to 3 weeks prior to class. Be sure to include your last name and dates of class on the shipping label. EXAMPLE:

Snacks/Lunch/Beverages

Bring Lunch and snacks as needed. There will not be time to leave the range for food. A microwave and fridge are available. Every student will receive a Thunder Ranch reusable water bottle and water coolers are present on every range. We STRONGLY recommend bringing electrolytes as the ranch is a high desert climate at 5,400ft of elevation.

Travel Reminder

When traveling with suppressors and short-barreled rifles (SBRs), ensure you carry the appropriate documentation at all times, especially in case of police stops.

About Our Weather

Thunder Ranch is located at 5,400ft of elevation and is considered a high desert climate. The weather conditions are subject to change rapidly and can vary from cool mornings, to a hot afternoons, followed immediately by snow- not kidding. Layers are your best friend. You can have all the boxes checked on your gear list and still "fail" on your wardrobe. There is a lot of truth to the saying "There is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing."
